虽然新闻行业可能最常与突发新闻、信息传递和腐败掌权者的下台联系在一起， 不幸的是现在也与假新闻一词有关，但富有洞察力和深思熟虑的新闻叙事可以帮助在文化和民族之间产生理解。在本次讲座中，我们将探讨为什么明智的新闻叙事和细致入微的观点在新闻行业中很重要，以及框架不佳的报道有时如何将中国和西方之间的关系视为一场零和游戏。
While journalism is perhaps most often associated with breaking news, informative features, and takedowns of corrupt people in power (and, sadly these days, with the term fake news), insightful and thoughtful storytelling can help generate understanding between cultures and peoples. In this seminar, we'll explore why intelligent storytelling and nuanced perspectives matter in journalism and how poorly framed reporting has sometimes framed the relationship between China and the West as a zero-sum game.

In this five-part media literacy lecture series, we will explore these questions while analyzing and discussing the modern and ever-changing media landscape.

Attendees will walk away with a greater understanding of the role of journalists in society, journalistic ethics, and how to verify news and other information. Our speakers will also share tips on creating and sharing accurate news and curating content for a blog or social media channel.

Session 1 : Who Creates the News? Why Is Journalism Important?
