每年二月是美国的黑人历史月（Black History Month）。美国人为什么庆祝黑人历史月？这对于美国来说有什么重大意义？ 

February is Black History Month.  Why do Americans celebrate Black History Month?  What’s its significance to the United States?  

1947 年，杰基·罗宾逊 (Jackie Robinson) 被布鲁克林道奇队 (Brooklyn Dodgers) 签下，成为现代第一位在美国职业棒球大联盟打球的非裔美国人，在此过程中他面临着相当大的种族歧视。他会怎么做呢？欢迎来到北京美国中心，观看黑人历史月主题影片《42》。

Join us at the Beijing American Center for the film screening of 42, which tells the story about Jackie Robinson and the challenges and racism that he faced when, in 1947, he became the first African-American to play in Major League Baseball when he was signed by the Brooklyn Dodgers.

电影为英文配音并配有中文字幕。放映后将进行黑人历史月相关话题的讨论，讨论用英文或中文进行。

The movie is in English with Chinese Subtitles.  After the screening, we will hold a discussion on topics related to Black History Month.  The discussion will be in English and/or Chinese.

*请记住携带有效的并有照片的身份证件原件进入北京美国中心, 证件复印件或照片将不被允许进入。来北京美国中心参加此活动请勿携带大包。
You must bring a valid physical photo ID in order to enter the Beijing American Center (BAC).  Copies or pictures of IDs will not be accepted.  No large bags will be allowed into the BAC for this event. 

*访客请勿携带笔记本电脑。便携式电子设备如手机，iPads和其他平板电脑，智能手表可以带进北京美国中心的活动。
*Only mobile phones are allowed.  Guests may not bring laptop computers to Beijing American Center programs. 

18 岁以下人员谢绝参加。
People under 18 are not allowed in. 

活动开始前30分钟可以进入。请尽量于活动开始前15分钟到达以便有足够时间通过安检。在活动开始 30 分钟后将不允许入场参加活动。
Doors will open 30 minutes before the program starts.  Please try to arrive at least 15 minutes before the program starts to allow enough time to go through security.  You will NOT be admitted if you arrive half an hour after the program has started.

Directions: Metro Line 10, Liangmaqiao Station Exit B, walk northeast to the Tian Ze Road intersection of An Jia Lou Road, north side of the Visas Office.
